Kingston used to be the State Capitol of New York and has the oldest four corners in America with a stone house at each corner. It is also one of the fastest growing towns in America as far as the rise of real estate prices. It has been coined Upstate Brooklyn because of the many recent Brooklyn transplants. Kingston has been changing as a result. There are many new restaurants and cafes with a city vibe. The Market has seen a major spike in the past few years and is still going up. Kingston is made up of Uptown Kingston where you have wonderful walking streets, small shops and restaurants as well as a weekly farmer’s market, Downtown Kingston is where the port is with fewer restaurants and with a riverfront feel. Midtown Kingston is in between Uptown and Downtown and has lots of businesses along Broadway and residential streets to either side. This is the area where you can still find homes at relatively lower prices and more fixer uppers. Kingston is constantly improving with more outdoor activities such as a new bike path and green trails. It has a lot to offer and is a good option for people who want a quieter pace but are not ready to be completely rural.
