Phoenicia’s main street has a beautiful grand mountain as its backdrop and the Esopus stream along its side. It is like stepping back in time with older type restaurants and an old live theater on one of the small side streets. Right past Phoenicia is Woodland Valley which is a weekender heaven with a stream running through the middle of the valley and hiking at the end. When homes come on in Woodland Valley they normally last for just a few days. This area feels like you are deep in the catskills but still not too far away. It used to be the less expensive alternative to Woodstock since it was further away but now it is just slightly less expensive and the inventory is very low. Right on the outskirts of Phoenicia is the Phoenicia Diner which is very popular and a few local breweries as well as the emerson resort with a more upscale restaurant and bar as well as a very nice spa and gym which offers memberships.Phoenicia is a great location for NYC second home buyers since closer to the ski slopes in winter but closer to the City than having a place in Hunter or Windham.
